Cathedral Diocesan Museum
Pamplona Cathedral (access from street: Dormitalería, 3)
31001 Pamplona

The Cathedral Museum dates back to 1960, although it was later renovated in 1995 by architects Luis Tena anad Javier Zulategui. It is located in the buildings adjacent to the Cathedral, such as the Refectory, Kitchens and Larder of the former community of canons. The visit also includes other areas: the Cloisters ,the Barbazana Chapel and the recently restored Cathedral itself, constructed between the 14th and 16th centuries. The cathedral is Gothic in style (except for the Neoclassical doorway by Ventura Rodríguez and the Rococo Sacristy). In the Cathedral you can admire the tomb of Charles III, the Noble, and his wife Leonor, a Gothic work of art by Jean de Lome, the Romanesque statue of Saint María la Real, the Romanesque Christ by Juan de Ancheta and various altarpieces and images of artistic interest. Amongst the items of religious art exhibited in the museum, of particular note are the set of images of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the collection of silverware, with some exceptional works such as the Gothic reliquary of the Holy Sepulchre and the Lignum Crucis reliquary, French Gothic in style and which pertained to the Crown of Navarre; the reliquary of the Holy Thorn (15th century); the processional monstrance, worked by Pamplona silversmiths at the end of the 15th century, with some intricate Eucharistic iconography, and processional crucifixes  of great value, such as the one from the village of Arazuri. The collection is completed with different paintings (the painting of Peralta by Van Dyck), altarpieces (the 15th century, Flemish style “Las Navas” altarpiece), carvings and decorative art.
